Oat Flour Gluten Free Brownies

These moist and delicious gluten free brownies are made using oat flour, and they couldn’t be more delicious. These brownies are moist and full of flavor.

Gluten Free Brownies

Gluten free brownies that can be bought in stores are so expensive, and the only way you can make them taste good is with lots of butter. Well, I am out to change that! These gluten free, refined sugar free, dairy free, egg free brownies are deliciously moist and flavorful.

These brownies were inspired by my oldest daughter, Kallie. She loves to create recipes in the kitchen, and one day she asked if she could make a fun treat for dinner. The biscotti recipe didn’t go to well, but it looked like brownie batter, so we baked them anyways and they turned out great! Her mess-up was the beginning stages for creating this recipe, and I owe it to her for this amazing treat! Aren’t most oops recipes the best ones?!? Did you know the creation of pretzels was from an OOPS? Google it 🙂

Why I Choose Oat Flour

Good food shouldn’t have to cost a fortune, and oat flour is my go-to flour because it’s naturally gluten-free, full of fiber, and really good for your body. I buy my oats in bulk at Winco Foods. We go through a 25-pound bag of oats each money, and we like to purchase this organic bag for $26.78. It’s the best price we can find, and we love them!

How To Make Gluten Free Brownies:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a high speed blender, grind old-fashioned oats into a fine flour. Pour into a mixing bowl.
  3. Into the mixing bowl, add the rest of the ingredients, not including the chocolate chips or nuts.
  4. Once you whisked all the ingredients together, stir in the chocolate chips and pecans.
  5. Pour batter into an 8X8 or 9X9 baking dish. I use a silicone baking dish, that way I don’t have to grease anything and they come out perfectly every time.***If you do not have a silicone baking dish, I highly recommend you get one, or you can use a parchment lined glass dish.
  6. Bake for 15-18 minutes. You want the center to be slightly under cooked. If you over cook the brownies, they will be dry and crumbly.
  7. Allow brownies to completely cool before cutting into squares.

Silicone Bakeware

We have eliminated oil from our diets. If you’re interested to know why, you can CLICK HERE to read my post on why I eat whole food plant based. Silicone bakeware is the only way to go! There is no greasing your pans before baking, and I love how easy they are to clean.

There are several options out there, but I tend to stick with the cheaper options and have had great success with them. I purchase mine either on Amazon, or at Aldi’s when they have them available.

Pure Maple Syrup Substitute

If pure maple syrup is too expensive, there is an alternative. You can easily make a simple syrup instead. In a small saucepan, dissolve 1 cup of sugar with 1 cup of water. You do not need to boil the mixture, you just want the sugar to dissolve.

This is a great replacement, and any dried sweetener will work. After the sugar has dissolved, let the simple syrup cool down before making this recipe.

Oat flour brownies are fudgy and delicious as long as you don't over bake them. Oat flour absorbs liquid quickly, and can dry out quickly, so make sure you watch your timer closely. You will have the most chocolaty and healthy dessert!

Ingredients
  

  • 2 round cups old fashioned oats, ground into flour
  • ⅓ cup cacao powder or cocoa powder
  • ⅓ cup coconut sugar or brown sugar
  • 3 Tbsp flax seed meal
  • ½ tsp. baking soda
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 cup pure maple syrup or simple syrup
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • ⅓ cup chocolate chips
  • sprinkling of pecans or walnuts on top (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  • Into the mixing bowl, add the rest of the ingredients, not including the chocolate chips or nuts.
  • Once you've whisked all the ingredients together, stir in the chocolate chips.
  • Pour batter into an 8X8 or 9X9 baking dish. I use a silicone baking dish, that way I don't have to grease anything and they come out perfectly every time.***If you do not have a silicone baking dish, I highly recommend you get one, or you can use a parchment lined glass dish.

  • Allow the brownies to cool before slicing. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator.
