I used to buy frozen garlic cubes at Trader Joe’s for convenience, but I had a viewer on Instagram tell me they had canola oil in them. How did I miss that?!? You might be thinking that that’s no big deal, but it actually is.
For those of us that struggle with inflammation, canola oil is a BIG NO NO!!! Canola oil causes terrible inflammation, but I loved those little garlic cubes and I used them almost daily.
For the same price as buying those frozen garlic cubes at $2.50, I can make my own in a matter of a few minutes, and get WAY MORE garlic cubes for that price! I was sold on the idea of making my own, and that’s exactly what I continue to do each time I run out.
- food processor (I use a mini food processor)

I purchased my mini ice cube tray at Dollar Tree, and they typically have them available for purchase in the Spring time. However, if you’d like to start making them now, Amazon has ones that are similar.
How To Make Garlic Cubes
Purchase a 6oz bag of peeled garlic cubes. Pour the whole bag into a food processor and add 1/4 cup water. Blend for 10-15 seconds.
Depending on your garlic cubes and how fresh they are, add up to 1/4 cup water more. You definitely don’t have to use all the additional 1/4 cup. Sometimes just a few tablespoons more water will do. Blend for an additional 10-15 seconds, scraping down the sides to blend all the garlic pieces together.
Once the garlic has become pureed, now you can scoop it into your mini ice cube tray. Each cube is about 2 garlic cloves worth. These are perfect in all my recipes! It makes soup, casseroles, and sauces taste 10X better! They are so much more flavorful than just chopping up some garlic.
Once you have filled your ice cube tray, place it in the freezer for 4-5 hours. Then, place each cube in a freezer safe ziploc bag and store in the freezer. These will last in your freezer for 3-4 months, possibly longer.
