Aimee’s Weekly $40 Grocery Haul and Menu Plan For Family of 6

This week has been so different for me because I am on my MAY – NO SPEND CHALLENGE. If you’d like to read more about the challenge, or you’d like to join it’s not too late! We’d love to have you join in on the FUN and SAVE MONEY! Read more about the challenge by clicking the link below:

Anyways, so now that you know about the challenge, you can see that we are saving $1000 this month, which means I cut our normal $140 weekly grocery budget down to $40 per week! We are crazy and super excited to save money!

However, we are on week 4 of this month’s challenge and I am feeling it! It’s getting harder and harder for me to meal plan with what we already have, and only spending $40. I definitely had to rework the menu plan and cut a lot of normal foods out this week.

So here’s what I got today:

Aldi’s Trip: Spent $32.07

Favorite Deals:

Red grapes – $.89/lb

Seedless Watermelon – $1.99 each

Cucumbers – $.39 each

White Rice, 3/lb bag – $1.45

Foods Co Trip: Spent $6.26

Favorite Deal:

Clearanced squash – $.99 per bag!

I will also be buying BUTTER!!! We’ve been out all week, so we are all excited! Saturday ONLY Foods Co will be selling butter for $1.99. My plan is to buy one… I am very excited about this deal!

Download the app on your smartphone and upload the coupon. This is at all Krogers, Food 4 Less, and Foods Co. for sure. Not sure if any of Kroger owned stores are participating, like Ralphs.

GRAND TOTAL FOR THE WEEK: $40.32!!!

Thankfully I had a bunch of coins in my wallet!

The reason I am able to only spend $40 per week for all the groceries we need, is because last month I saved a lot of our grocery money and bought meat on sale. So my freezer is stocked full of meat to get us through the whole month of May.

Weekly Menu Plan:

Breakfasts:

  • warm rice cereal, copycat CLIFF breakfast bars, oatmeal muffins, yogurt and fruit

Lunches:

  • sandwiches with chips and fruit, vegetable soup, yogurt cups, leftovers, pasta with ham and peas, hot dogs

Dinners:

  • Taco Salad with leftover chicken and pinto beans
  • Pork Loin with roasted potatoes and carrots
  • Bacon Zucchini Boats
  • Ham and White Beans with cornbread
  • Teriyaki Chicken Bowls with brown rice and veggies
  • Baked Chicken and sweet potatoes and veggies
  • Breakfast for dinner: bacon, eggs, oatmeal pancakes
